If you’re in France or Italy and you have the time, a fabulous getaway to Monte Carlo (an area of the Principality of Monaco) is a must-do. I’ve been to this chic coastal community along the French-Italian border a few times over the years. And it never disappoints a globetrotter like me.
Here are a few tips when traveling to Monte Carlo:
Hotel: Fairmont Monte Carlo Hotel sits along the Mediterranean and the iconic casino. It’s just a stone’s throw away from the area’s hot spots. The rooftop pool view is amazing. The rooms are comfortable with marble baths, and a private terrace with sea views. Rates average $500 USD and up.
Dine: My favorite place to eat in Monte Carlo is Nobu housed inside the Fairmont Hotel. I enjoyed breakfast every morning with a sea view. The restaurant also offers an array of dishes with an Asian flare for dinner.
Getting There: I flew into Nice from Paris and took a cab to Monte Carlo. However, trains and buses are also available. It’s about a 45-minute ride along the coast with views that will take your breath away.
